Disney

I’m walking right down the middle of Main Street U.S.A.
I know it’s no illusion; it’s a dream that’s here to stay
For the time of your life, you oughtta find yourself here
You’re welcome anytime you have the mind to appear
I’m walking right down the middle of Main Street U.S.A.

Main Street, USA

Walt Disney designed Main Street, USA at Disneyland Resort to reflect small town America. He wanted visitors to feel as though they were right at home or visiting another little Main Street in a middle-of-nowhere town. Our travel stories are a lot like that – visiting middle-of-nowhere type towns and traveling the Main Streets of America – but there is something unique and timeless about Main Street, USA inside the Disney parks that brings a sense of magic to life. Our goal is to explore the parks and look closely at the details and aspects that bring every Main Street to Disney so that we can feel a touch of that magic in every Main Street.

DisneyBound: A Disney Style

A DisneyBound can be any character, ride, show, song, location, or anything else created by (or owned by) Disney that you can incorporate into your outfit using similar styles and colors. These character-inspired looks are perfect for both in- and outside of the Disney Parks. Through DisneyBounding you can take your everyday wardrobe and infuse it with a little of that Disney magic that used to only be found in the parks or other Disney events. The best part about DisneyBounding is that this is not a costume; its sole purpose is to allow for anyone to put together looks from their own closet. DisneyBounding is also a great way to step outside your comfort zone and pair different items of clothing that you normally wouldn’t. Sometimes you create something that you end up falling in love with. To start out a DisneyBound, think of the character, movie, or attraction you would like to use. Think of the colors that are most prominent and what clothes you already own that are those colors.

Here are some tips for DisneyBounding:

  1. Keep your personal style in mind – Don’t buy something you think you should buy because it looks like something a character would wear. This item of clothing will still need to fit into your wardrobe and day to day outfits. It should not be anything extravagant that you would really only wear for pictures.
  2. Solid colors are a blank canvas. Just like in any wardrobe, solids are staples here and having solid tees in a few different colors can really help to build a DisneyBound on top.
  3. Alternatively, prints are also great for DisneyBounding. Flannel or plaid can bring different colors together or even break up too much of a single color. Florals, polka dots, and animal prints can also work for a number of looks.
  4. Layer your look. Sometimes the best way to incorporate different colors is by adding layers and playing around with what looks best.
  5. Versatility is key – select items that can work for multiple DisneyBounds. If you have pieces that work for a variety of characters and can be worn a variety of ways, you can double or triple your wardrobe.
  6. Accessorize! Accessories can add an extra touch to an outfit or even bring in something from the story. Jewelry with icons like an arrow, a star, or a flower could channel a specific character. Scarves are also a great accessory and you can easily find many different prints, solids, and styles to top a basic shirt. Other accessories to include are purses and other bags, headbands and hair clips, pins, shoes, or even a stuffed animal. Be creative and have fun with it!

Disney DIYs

DIYs (Do-It-Yourself) are a great way to bring the magic home with you or to get pumped for an upcoming vacation. The wide selection of movies and themes under the Disney brand opens up so many doors for DIY. Crafting is fun for adults and children alike and there are many different mediums you can use. Baking Disney-inspired treats is fun and tasty and can be a great way to add the magic to a party or random Saturday!
